Fred the frizzle was one of 11 temporary visitors who had to be separated from the others when they started beating him up. He has settled well with our permanent family.	Vincent and Jonathan were inherited by new owners of a property in South Head. Unfortunately the neighbours started complaining so they came to live here. They are Orpingtons.	Alvaro and Alfonso were referred to us by the SPCA. Their new owner was unable to look after them and when they first arrived here they needed some special care. They are very happy now and have joined our other alpacas.


Amanda was left behind when her fellow calves were sold at a recent sale, so she has come to live here and be a companion for Panda	Chooky was rescued as a chick from a roadside colony and his teenage owner was devastated when he started to crow. He is very tame and was like part of their family. Their local SPCA said that if they took him they would put him down so we decided to take him.	Tyrone was already here when we opened the sanctuary, and Ashley was donated to keep him company. Ashley was supposed to be a wether so it was a big shock when "he" gave birth to Jack!

Liam was dumped at Hooten Reserve in Albany along with four other roosters. Many roosters dumped there end up as victims of dog attacks.	Hamish is Liam's brother.	Little George was rescued from a roadside colony where he was having a hard time, maybe because of his deformed foot. He has settled in well and has made friends with Sebastian who has a yellow cloak like him!

Meet Colin. He was dropped off with Tom, Dick and Harry, but did a runner before I could collect him. He arrived here a day later.	Kellie Lehmann fell in love with Jaffa when she saw photos of her, and Jaffa will be joining Kellie's family when she is old enough to leave here.	Angus and Duncan were seen being dumped in Cornwall park in Auckland. Luckily they were rescued straight away.

This is Tom and...	...Dick and...	...Harry!!! These three boys were dropped off at the home of a local lady who rescues animals, but she wasn't keen on keeping them because she didn't want them to breed with her hens.

Kevin was picked up in Albany after complaints about his crowing. He is having a great time with his new friends.	Here is Cilla with her nine beautiful babies. Sebastian was dumped in Silverdale and was rescued and brought to us after the council decided he would have to be shot. He is very shy but very beautiful, with a lovely yellow cloak.	Lucas was with Sebastian in Silverdale but he took a bit longer to catch. He is happy to be reunited with his friend.	Aaron and Paul were dumped in a parking area and left to fend for themselves. They were at risk of being run over, attacked by dogs or taken to be eaten. They are safe now.

Charlie came to live here when he became too aggressive towards his previous owners. This was his last chance and luckily he has settled in well.	Ryan has come to live here because his owners didn't want any more breeding happening in their flock. He has made friends with Max and Frankie.	Roberto (on the right, next to Charles) came to us after he was dumped and attacked in an Auckland park, and then in recovery for many weeks. Read about him here

Meet Churchill and Winston. They were rescued from death as chicks.	These boys are very small but very adventurous. Luckily their Uncle Arnie protects them. Their names are Michael and Nicholas.	The smallest roosters in the flock are Benjamin and Peter They still have a lot of growing to do!

These nine roosters were our first hands-on rescue. Read all about them.	This is Napoleon, one of the nine. I named him Napoleon because he is little but very feisty.	This is Andrew. He is recovering from an eye infection and likes to spend his time crowing in the shelter.

This is Phillip. He is one of the nine but he is quite timid and prefers to hang out with the smaller roosters.	Meet Bib, Charles and Spurs. These boys like to make sure they get the highest perch in the roosting house!	This is Edward. Like Napoleon, he is only small but he is very feisty!

I named these boys Marvin and Mervin because I can't tell them apart unless they stand together - Marvin is slightly bigger.	Sunny was found wandering in Sunnynook in Auckland and some very kind people cared enough to make sure he found his way here to a safe home. He has a crooked comb.	Rajah was dumped at Alberton House in Mt Albert where he made himself right at home. Unfortunately, city laws won't allow roosters and his future was looking bleak until we heard about Rajah and offered him a home with us.

Panda was found wandering around the countryside. She had two choices; here or the freezing works!	Dave came to live with us when his family could no longer keep him. He kept breaking into their hen house!	Vanessa Sutton rescued Frankie and Max from a roadside colony when they were dumped there as chicks. They were in danger of being killed by adult roosters.

Arnie lived all of his life in a small cage and is now enjoying the freedom of a giant enclosure!	Prune and her mother, Nellie, came to us from the Northern Wairoa Rehoming Centre. They originally came from a farm and they needed a lot of care before we were able to bring them home	Alejandro, Alberto and Alfredo were not rescued; I met them at an open day and fell in love with them. They are now ambassadors for our sanctuary!
